Two Angel Teams Leave Mark
on 2008 Premier Freshman Championship
The Angels Blue Ryan take the Runner-up spot at the Premier
Freshman Championship after a hard fought battle against the East
Cobb Astros and a 1 run loss.
The second Angels team, Angels Blue Watkins, win the Consolation
Championship of the Premier Freshman Championship with a walk off
homerun by Philip Casey. |

Angels Finish in the Top
Four in 2008 Premier Incoming Freshman Championship
The Angels Gray, led by Coach Ronnie Thames, advance from
Pool Play to the championship round. After a dramatic comeback
in the Quarterfinal game, the Angels hit their way to 16-15 defeat
over the KC Express. The Bayside Yankees put an end to the
Angels' run in the Semifinal round. |

Angels Blue Win Austin Slam Tournament
After pool play, the Angels record was 3 and 1, securing
them a spot in the semi-final on Sunday. The Angels topped the
Houston Miracles 8-1 in the semi-final, sending us to the final.
Pitcher Garrett Harris and closer Jesse Andrade kept the Miracles to
a single run in a pitcher's duel with a solid defense. Harris
posted 7 K's and 1 walk. Scoreless until the 3rd, with two
runners on base Kyle Von Tungeln hit a home run.In the final, the Angels
faced the same Slider's team they lost to in pool play. The Angels shut out the #1 seed South Texas Sliders (A)
with a score of 9-0. Kyle Von Tungeln and
closer Ryan Smith combined for the shut out. |

Former Angel Kyle McCulloch Signs with the Chicago White Sox
The White Sox 2006 first-round draft pick, Kyle McCulloch, has
already made his first pitching appearance at U.S. Cellular Field.
He threw out the ceremonial first pitch before Tuesday night's game
against the Cardinals in celebration of signing with the Sox....

Former Angel Kyle McCulloch, 2006 Big 12 Pitcher of the
Year, was selected in the first round of the 2006 Draft by the
Chicago White Sox. The Angels had and additional 11

The Woodlands
Bulls Join the Angels Organization
Coach Eric Frey of the Woodlands Bulls started his
organization in 1997 and has coached his team through a successful
history in which they won or finished second in national events
sanctioned by USSSA, Super Series, Triple Crown, USABF, AAU, Grand
Forks Baseball (Western Canada) and others. Coach Frey will
now bring his winning tradition to the Angels as coach the Angels
15U team. |

LHP Taylor Hammack was honored by second baseman Alfonso
Soriano during a Ranger's pre-game ceremony at Ameriquest Field as

Former Angel J. Brent Cox Selected As a Closer For Team USA
Worked as the USA Baseball National Team's closer during the summer
of 2004 under the direction of head coach Frank Cruz and helped the
Americans amass and 18-7 overall record, including a perfect 8-0
mark during the FISU World University Baseball Championships in
Taiwan to capture the Gold Medal.
Went 2-1 with a team-best four saves during his 12 relief
appearances for Team USA as he registered the third-best ERA on the
staff (2.08), fanned 25 over 17.1 innings of work and held opposing
hitters to a .131 batting average against.
Posted one win and all four of his saves, including one in each of
the final three games of the tournament, during the FISU World
University Championships as he did not allow a hit and issued only
four walks while fanning nine over five relief outings, which
spanned 5.1 innings. |
